What Is the E-2 Treaty Investor Visa?
The E-2 Treaty Investor visa allows eligible nationals of qualifying treaty countries to live and work in the United States while developing and directing a business in which they have made a substantial investment. There is no fixed minimum investment amount for an E-2 visa. Instead, the investment must be substantial in relation to the cost and nature of the business. The investment must also be committed and at risk, and the business must be a genuine commercial enterprise that is not merely marginal. The E-2 visa offers flexibility for entrepreneurs seeking to establish a long-term presence in the United States. Although it does not directly provide permanent residency, E-2 status may be extended indefinitely, provided the investor and business continue to meet the applicable requirements.
