We help Canadian and Mexican professionals obtain TN status to work in the United States in qualifying professional occupations. TN status is available for specific professions listed under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), and most require a bachelor’s degree or other specified professional credentials.
TN status is temporary and generally may be granted for up to three years at a time. It can be renewed, and there is no set limit on the number of renewals as long as the individual continues to qualify and maintains nonimmigrant intent. TN professionals must work for a qualifying U.S. employer or client and cannot use TN status for self-employment.
Most TN professions have specific degree or licensing requirements. Certain categories, including Management Consultants and Scientific Technicians/Technologists, have different eligibility requirements and often require particularly careful documentation.
